A small, owner-run guesthouse in the centre of Thoddoo
Relax Residence is a 3-star, adults-only guesthouse on Thoddoo, a local island in the Alif Alif Atoll of the Maldives. We have welcomed guests since 2015, and the house is run by its owners, Nazwan Ali and Ibrahim Shanix. There are 14 air-conditioned rooms, a restaurant on the property, and cafes, shops and the harbour within a short walk.

Central and walkable
Cafes, shops and the harbour are a few minutes away on foot, and the island is small enough to cross by bicycle.
Clean, simple rooms
Air conditioning, a private bathroom with shower and hairdryer, a kettle with tea and coffee, a mini-fridge, and daily cleaning in every room.
Food on the property
Our restaurant is on site. Breakfast is served 08:00–10:00 (continental, Asian or vegetarian); vegan, halal and gluten-free meals are available on request.
Help with the journey
We help organise the boat transfer and meet you at the island pier. The ride from the pier to the guesthouse is free.
Snorkelling and bicycles
Snorkel equipment for guests, bicycle rental and free Wi-Fi. We also arrange excursions: manta rays, dolphins, fishing and picnic islands.
Adults only, calm
No children, no pets, non-smoking rooms. A quiet courtyard where guests meet after a day of snorkelling or on the beach.
Two room types, 14 rooms
Both room types sleep two adults, with one extra-large bed (over 2 metres) or two single beds. Every room has air conditioning, a private bathroom and daily cleaning.

Getting to Thoddoo
Thoddoo is about 68 km from Velana International Airport in Malé. We meet guests at the island pier whichever way they come.

The guys from the hotel arranged a speedboat for us, met us at the Thoddoo port when we came, and did the same on the way back to the airport. They also organised swimming with manta rays for us.

The hotel is closest to the beach. Breakfast is a buffet, with options to choose from. The room is cleaned daily, a big bed, hot water, air conditioning. The staff is amazing, always lending a helping hand.

The hotel is small and the bathroom is a little tired, but it is clean and located in the centre of the island. The staff are simply outstanding. In our case the owner even managed to get us back from another island when the ferry broke down.

Good to know before you book
- Adults only. No children, no extra beds or cots, no pets. Rooms are non-smoking.
- Rooms are compact. The Deluxe room is 13 m², the balcony room 14 m². Air conditioning cools the room only, so keep the door closed.
- No alcohol in the shops. Alcoholic drinks are not sold in any shop on Thoddoo.
- No speedboat on Fridays. Plan your arrival and departure for another day, or take the ferry.
- Shops close during the day. Shops on the island open in several short periods and close around midday and prayer times.
- Weather decides the boat. Boats and seaplanes do not run in storms; message us if your timing is tight.

How do I get from Malé airport to Thoddoo?
Most guests take the speedboat: it leaves the airport at 16:00 every day except Friday, takes about 1 hour 15 minutes and costs $35 per person each way. Back to the airport it leaves at 07:00. We meet you at the island pier and the ride to the guesthouse is free. The public ferry and the seaplane are described in our transfer guide.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out until 12:00. Reception works Monday to Saturday, 07:00–23:00. If your boat is early or late, message us on WhatsApp.
Can I stay with children?
No. Relax Residence is for adults only: there are no children, extra beds or cots, and pets are not accepted.
Is there a restaurant and can I eat special diets?
Yes, the restaurant is on the property. Breakfast is served 08:00–10:00 and can be continental, Asian or vegetarian. Vegan, halal and gluten-free meals are available on request; tell us when you book.
