If you decide to plan your trip to the Maldives, and in particular to the island of Toddoo, where you can arrange a budget tourist’s paradise, then for sure you will be concerned about the issue of food. It makes no sense to take an “all inclusive” on such islands, since the cuisine of any of the guest houses on the territory of Toddu will not surprise you. Therefore, most tourists take breakfast / dinner, which will be more than enough for you. You can always buy something for the beach or a midnight meal in a store or restaurant.
It is worth noting that the Relax Residence hotel offers a fairly good set of dishes both for breakfast and dinner. For example, a standard breakfast at this hotel looks like this:
- 0.5 bottled water;
- scrambled eggs from one egg;
- tuna salad;
- delicious homemade cakes (which are very convenient for feeding fish on a house reef);
- freshly squeezed mango juice;
- 2 sausages;
- coffee with sugar and cream.
Of course, if you are used to all inclusive in Turkey, then the food here will seem very meager. But they definitely don’t come here to eat. People come here overseas!
Dinner, of course, is more varied and is served in a buffet style. It is worth noting that during a week of staying at Relax Residence, meals for dinner can be repeated 1 time. This is normal. For guests in the kitchen of the guest house they prepare:
- baked potatoes;
- chicken wings;
- the most delicious fried sea fish (this is the most delicious thing you can eat in the Maldives);
- green beans;
- pieces of meat in the form of goulash;
- rice with vegetables;
- instant noodles (this is probably exclusively for the Chinese, they can eat it all day);
- various steamed vegetables;
- bottled water;
- fresh juices.
In general, you will never be hungry. It is most important.
What can you buy in stores?
There are only 2 supermarkets with groceries on Toddu. 1 large and 2 times smaller. Here you can find everything that is most familiar to any person: water, snacks, fruits, ice cream, and so on. You can even find some ordinary household items in these stores.
At prices. A 0.5 liter bottle of water will cost you 14 rufiyaa – approximately 1 US dollar. Delicious ice cream can be purchased for 30 rufiyaa. Fruit is a ridiculous price, apart from pineapple. Here they are expensive, but very tasty. A pack of plain chips costs about 20 rufiyaas. Pringles can be purchased for 35-45 rufiyaa. These are the normal prices for an island where you will buy anyway in this place, since you have nowhere to go.
Food in restaurants
On the island, in many guest houses, the kitchen works as a separate restaurant. Those. you can feel like a resident of this or that guest house for a couple of hours. A standard set of BBQ, French fries and a glass of juice will cost about 50 rufiyaas. Lunch for one person for $ 3 is a fairy tale.
Because of the heat, if you come in high season, you will not be hungry. And everyone can afford to buy water here. So head to Todda for a budget holiday in a fairy tale. There are truly heavenly beaches here.
