Thoddoo and Coronavirus: Restrictions on the Island During the Covid 19 Pandemic
Pandemic, pandemic – this word will be remembered by everyone and for a long time. Tourist thoughts had to be put on the back burner. But fortunately, in 2021, humanity began to cope with this disaster and tourism began to revive.
The Maldives as a state earns the lion’s share of its GDP, including from tourists. Having opened the borders for tourists, certain restrictions were made on all the islands. But Todd can currently list these restrictions as follows:
- you can’t travel between islands. That is, if you want to go to another island with Todd, you will have to pay a large fine for violating the law during a pandemic;
- After 18:00, going outside is strictly prohibited, so restaurants are closed on the island. You should spend your evenings on the hotel grounds or in your room.
These are the key restrictions that directly affect tourists.
Wearing masks outside is not mandatory, as in the UAE, for example, but is only a recommendation. The country does not require tests upon arrival with any frequency – one PCR or vaccination certificate is enough to fly to the Maldives.
