Airport facts
Like almost any other country with a similar climate, Male airport is open. There is no conventional building here – a kind of canopy over all the service premises.
It’s very hot at the airport – there’s no such thing as air conditioning, just fans. Be prepared for that.
As for a snack, you will find the most standard set of chain fast food here: KFC, Burger King. But in terms of taste, both are an order of magnitude worse than the usual establishments of this type in Russia. It is better to have a snack in some cafe and wait for the transfer to the hotel.
The duty free at departure is small, but there is plenty to choose from, especially for regular souvenirs. They cost 20-30% more than on the island (compared to the prices in the shops on Thoddoo).
